Well, pictures always tell stories and judging by these above, you should be able to tell we had a REALLY good time at the Decatur Beer Festival 2009. The beer selection was tremendous and we actually discovered new beers that we liked and didn’t like!

The weather was not the greatest. When we arrived around 11:30 am to get into a line, it was probably not even 40 degrees and windy. The drizzling probably started about 11:40 am and kept drizzling until about an hour or 2 before the end of the festival.

But at least WE HAD BEER! And that we did have. 73 different vendors with at least 100 different beers if not more! Abita Brewing Company was a popular vendor since they were giving out FREE koozies. Everyone was so cold and holding a cold beer made us even colder. I know Abita featured Jockamo and I believe they also featured Turbo Dog? Guess I should’ve have written these down on my list. But it is was REALLY COLD! My 2 favorites for the day were: Highland Brewing Company with their Mocha Stout and Left hand Brewing Company Imperial Stout. I was obviously feeling the weather and enjoying the darker flavors on this day. Highland Brewing Company had the best setup as they had a real wooden portable bar with labeled spouts for each beer. (I forgot that picture too but remember I WAS drinking….) The space within the Decatur Square was plenty big for this festival to hold the 4000 people and still give you plenty of space.

This beer festival was well worth the wait! Mark your calendars now to check in June or July of 2010 for tickets issue date. For 2009, they went on sale Monday, August 24, 2009 and sold out in 12 days. You’ll want to order them quickly once they go on sale if you are interested in attending this festival!
