Embed an Image in Microsoft Outlook Email Campaigns

Do you know how to embed an image in Microsoft Outlook Email? For example, you can embed flyer image within the body of your email instead of attaching as an attachment. Here’s your step by step instructions to do so.

Attaching an image means it will come as an attachment with the sent email and you have to manually open attachment by double clicking on it. Embedding an image means that the flyer image is visible in your email when you open the email without having to click on the image to get it to open.

Just remember, Microsoft Outlook does have a minimum of emails you can send out at once. If you are trying to use Outlook as your mass email campaign program, you may have to break up your email list in sections for the emails with your embedded images to go through. Here we go!

1. Your images to embed must be a .jpg or .gif file. No .pdf files will embed.

2. Make sure your .jpg file or .gif image file is saved on your computer somewhere – desktop, my documents – where ever you can find later.

3. Start a “new” email.

4. Take your mouse, place cursor in the body of your email and click once {as if you were going to start typing but don’t start typing yet}.

5. Once cursor is in body of email, go to top bar menu of options and choose “Insert” and then “Picture…”

6. A window titled picture will open. Choose “Browse” to locate the file to embed.

7. Go locate where you saved the .jpg or .gif file on your computer. Once you find it, select it and choose “Open”.

8. The picture box will return. Enter text that explains what your image is in the “Alternate Text” area of this box. Then choose “Ok”.

SIDENOTE: Why is it important for you to include alternate text? One important reason is – if the email receivers email is set not to automatically view pictures – the text will appear instead of image. In this case, the receiver just has to click on the image and choose to show the images.

9. Your image should appear within the body copy of your email. Add any text you may want to email and then hit send.

This weekend is the popular Atlanta art festival – Inman Park Festival 2010. I’ve personally gone to the festival for the past few years now and I always love the diversity of artist and vendors of this particular festival. As a fellow artist, I love to be inspired by other artists works and I usually am very inspired by the time I leave the Inman Park Festival! So here’s all the details you should know before you go!

REtechSouth Brain Full of Information!

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a fast growing and yearly Real Estate Technology Conference called REtechSouth. Working in the real estate marketing industry full-time, this seminar proved to be very informative and educational last year and I had no doubt that it would be again this year. I was not let down or disappointed at all! Even others I met who were attending this year’s REtechSouth for their first year were amazed of how much hands on information they were getting in these quick short lived sessions. In 30 – 45 minutes, you were in and out with some hands on information you could immediately start using in your every day work day to make you better at what you do and make new connections along the way. I already plan to be there next year along with many others who I know I will see again. I noticed Florida, Mississippi and even Tennessee tags from vehicles who obviously traveled a distance to be at this conference / training sessions.

If you work in the real estate industry regardless of whether you are a reatlor, broker or marketeer, this is one learning event you really should not miss. They always have something for everyone.

I will be sharing different posts on different topics I learned from this year’s REtechSouth. Everything from photography tips and tricks for taking photos that sell homes to graphic designs do and don’ts for your real estate blog. So stayed tuned. In the real estate industry or not, I bet I can teach you something!

Create Your Email Signature in Microsoft Office Outlook

So what’s your signature? For your email I mean. Is it anything or just some text? Or maybe you do have some hyperlinks to the text but is that all? Why be just text when you can be text and images! In Microsoft Outlook, you have the ability to import images such as a photo of yourself or social media icons into your signature combined with hyperlinks to different places on the web to make an nice looking and impressionable email signature.

For this particular tutorial, we are going to use social media icons such as Facebook, Twitter and Blog icons to import into our sample signature. Here’s a step by step on how to create an email signature with images in Microsoft Office Outlook.

Important note: This tutorial is using Microsoft Office Outlook for your primary email use. Other email software programs may have different instructions for incorporating custom email signatures and free versions of email such as gmail or yahoo may not currently allow the use of images in your signature.

1. First for this tutorial, you will want to download icons for you to use towards the end. Since I originally created this tutorial for Morris and Raper staff and agents in which I work with, these icons will include: WordPress Blog icon, Blogger icon, Morris and Raper Website icon, Twitter icon and Facebook icon.

To download the social icons in a zip file, click here or click the image!

Once you’ve downloaded this, be sure to go “unzip” the file so you can see all of the icons included into this file. To unzip on a file, you just double click the file and it will ask you if you want to extract file. You choose yes and you should see individual icons.

2. With Microsoft Outlook open, choose “Tools” from the top menu option.

3. From the “Tools” drop down options, choose “Options”.

4. A new panel window will open. Choose the “Mail Format” tab.

5. Look towards the bottom of the panel window. You will see an area for “Signatures”.

6. Choose the “Signatures” Button.

7. Choose the “New” Button.

8. First, enter in a new name for this signature file. Secondly, choose the button “Start with a blank signature”. Then click the next button.

9. For plain text signatures, just start typing here in the white box. For icons and fancy anchor text and image links, choose “Advanced Edit”.

Side note: This is the step that you can create an email signature without icons or anchor text linked (anchor text means custom words you choose to link to a specific web address). To just have plain text and hypertext links (a full web address link that starts with http://), simply start typing directly in the box and choose save. Then you’ll be done at this step.

But why be just text when you can be so much more? So on to appearing fancy and internet savvy!

10. An alert box with the exclamation point will open to ask if you want to continue and open the editor which is not part of Microsoft Outlook. You will choose “yes” and it will continue to open Microsoft Word for you.

11. Microsoft Word will open and you are now ready to design your signature with images and links and stuff, oh my! First, start typing in the information you want: your name, company name, address, phone numbers, fax number etc.

12. Once you’ve typed in the information you want, place your cursor in the place you want to insert an image. Choose the “Insert” and then “Picture” and then “From File”.

13. Locate where you saved the icons on your computer and once you find them, click on one icon and choose “insert”.

14. Click on your image to select it and then choose “Insert” and then “Hyperlink”.

15. In the address box, type in the url (website address) you want the image linked to. For example, we could link this Morris and Raper Icon to the Morris and Raper .com website. You must include the full url that includes the “http://” – http://www.morrisandraper.com. The link will not work with just www.morrisandraper.com. Once you’ve entered in your url link, then click “Ok”.

16. Now your image is linked to a website address. Now repeat steps # 12 – # 15 to include more images with more links if you desire.

17. If you decide to link some words instead of an image, you simply select the words you want linked by highlighting them with your mouse and choose “Insert” and then “Hyperlink”. Then you would repeat step # 15 by entering the full url website address.

18. Once you are satisfied with your signature, you want to choose “File” and then “Save” it with a file name you will recongize. It will automatically save it as your new signature file for Microsoft Outlook.

19. Now go back to Outlook where you should see your new file and your new file should be selected as you see here.

20. Then click “Ok”.

21. Now check that your newly created signature is selected here for your “new messages” and your “replies and forwards”. If the correct signature is not selected, simply click the down arrow button you see on the far right and you should see a choice of signatures to choose from including your newly created signature.

22. Once your correct signature is selected, click “Ok”.

23. And you’re done! Now test your newly hip and fancy email signature. Go to “File”and then “Mail Message” and you should see it here!

Beer Brew Girls "Tastings and Networking" Party

Beer Brew Girls are at it again! We’re having a “Tastings and Networking” party on Saturday, April 10, 2010 to show off tastings of some of our home brews and celebrate April birthdays! If all of our current beer projects go as planned, we should have 7 – 8 different beers to sample. Everything from a 5% Raspberry Saison named “Fancy Lady” to a ? % Dry Hopped American Pale Ale which will be named “The Lives of the Monster Dogs” which is the band planning to play at this party!

Since the home brew is limited, this is an exclusive event by invitation only. We hope to have a great turnout and look forward to getting everyone’s opinion on our beers!

Beer Brew Girls Homebrew Contest Finalist Winners

So we, the Beer Brew Girls entered our very first beer competition and we made it into the final round out of 115 beers! Not bad for our first competition! Although, we didn’t win in the top 5 positions, we are proud of our accomplishment and have the motivation to press on, make more beer to win in the future! After all, we are still somewhat newbies at it so we obviously have some things to learn but we are determined to do so!

Here are the winners of the Beermuda Triangle Homebrew contest: 1st place – Hamp Covington with Eyes of the World (Double IPA); 2nd place Josh Fallen with Heinous Belgian Saison; 3rd place Richard Roper; 4th place Bill Houey with Molly Dolly Indian Brown; 5th place Joshua Humphries.
